VISAS FOR TEMPORARY WORKERS

A temporary work visa is for those who intend to travel and work in the UK under certain circumstances and only for a limited period of time (up to 12 or 24 months).

CATEGORIES OF TEMPORARY WORKING VISAS

  1. Visa for charity workers. This category is suitable for people coming to do unpaid voluntary work for a UK-registered charity.

  2. Creative and sports visa. This category is suitable for highly skilled athletes, musicians or actors. Athletes must be internationally recognized at the highest level in their sport, or they must come to the UK to make a significant contribution to the development of their area of interest.

  3. Visa for religious workers. This category is suitable for those who intend to engage in religious activities such as preaching or working in the UK.

  4. Visa for seasonal workers. This category is suitable for agricultural workers who have a sponsor and want to work in the UK.

  5. Government-authorized exchange visa. People wishing to enter the UK can use this category for a short period to gain work or study experience, undertake a foreign government language programme, carry out research or receive a scholarship under a government-approved exchange scheme.

    6. Visa under an international agreement. This category is applicable only to employees whose job offer falls under the purview of international legislation, including employers of embassies and diplomatic missions under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), who hold a certificate issued by a recognized organization in the UK.

The following requirements must be met for a temporary work visa:

  1. Certificate of sponsorship Before starting work, you must have a confirmed job offer and a certificate of sponsorship. The employer must have a valid sponsorship license to issue the CoS reference number that will be provided on the application. The visa application must be submitted within three months of the CoS being issued.

  2. Position It is important to prove that the job meets the sponsorship requirements and at least the national minimum wage will be paid.

  3. Content You usually need to prove that you have had at least £270 in your bank account for 28 consecutive days before you can apply for a visa. If you have been in the UK for at least 12 months before applying, or your employer has confirmed your income on the PMP, you do not need to provide proof of maintenance.

  4. Other requirements English language requirements may be required in some cases.
